FlaBasquete plays for the future in the South American League against Minas

Only victory matters to Flamengo tonight, in Barra da Tijuca

By - in

The first result was far from ideal. The 91-84 loss to Instituto de Córdoba in the opening round of the South American League semifinals derailed the red-and-blacks' plans. Gustavo De Conti's team returns to the court this Wednesday needing a victory over Minas Tênis Clube, which won its match against Bauru 67-66 and is currently second in the group.

With the setback to the Argentines, Flamengo relies on a combination of results to advance to the final, in addition to needing to win its two remaining games. It must beat Minas and root for Bauru to defeat Instituto. This way, everyone would go into the final round with a win and a loss, deciding the key on goal difference. Kick-off at 19:15 PM at Jeunesse Arena, broadcast on Sportv 2. Bauru vs. Instituto de Córdoba will follow at 21:30 PM.

Minas Tennis Club

One of the most traditional teams in Brazilian basketball, Minas Tênis Clube is in sixth place in the NBB, with four wins in eight games. In the South American League, the Minas Gerais team qualified third, in a group with Quimsa, Bauru, and Fastbreak (Colombia). With one win in three games, they secured a ticket to the semifinals, being the best third-place finisher among all groups.

The team's standouts are American forward Dominique Coleman and Brazilian power forward Wesley. Together, they account for over 20% of the team's points and are among the most-played players in the competition. Wesley is the top scorer for Flavio Soares' team with 57 shots.

Hi, Marquinhos

"Minas Tênis Clube is a big rival of Flamengo. Whenever they play us, they play hard. The game is crucial for qualification. We have to go in focused, try to defend their strengths and bring our game to the court, which is the most important thing."".
