FlaBasquete ready for third match against Minas Tênis Clube

The Super 8 duel is the third of the season between the teams.

The NBB is a knockout tournament. Or rather, a knockout tournament. One game only: win, advance, lose, out. Flamengo and Minas Tênis Clube face off this Saturday at 14 p.m. at Arena Carioca 1, in a match that's worth a place in the Super 8 semifinals. The new tournament created by the NBB promises to liven up the last two weeks of 2018, and the winner will secure a spot in the Liga das Américas in October 2019. Quite tempting.

Flamengo and Minas have already faced each other twice this season. Both times, Mengão left the court celebrating the victory, coincidentally, in both matches the team scored 91 points. In the NBB, they won 91-80 in Belo Horizonte. In the South American League, in Rio, 91-76. But these were very different matches, and the teams promise a great game on Saturday.

The last training session

FlaBasquete had a whole week to prepare and held its final training session this Friday at Arena Carioca 1. Check out some of the training on FlaTV.

the opponent

The Minas Gerais team sits sixth in the NBB. With six wins and seven losses in 13 matches, Minas has a 46.2% success rate and is coming off a loss, precisely to Flamengo.

The team is debuting shooting guard Leandrinho. An NBA champion, the veteran player is a key player on the team and will be playing his first game with his current teammates. Leandrinho previously played for Flamengo in 2011 and also in the friendly against the Orlando Magic in October of this year.

Hey, Varejao!

Center Anderson Varejão knows Leandrinho well and warned that the team must be careful when facing the player.

Leandrinho is a guy who plays in transition, one-on-one, he comes out quickly, very fast. He'll exploit the counterattack a lot. We have to create a very good defensive balance, with two players already deep, because we know he likes to come out at speed. He's a guy who can make a difference, and we have to prepare for that.
