The Pride of the Nation plays its first home match in the New Brazilian Basketball (NBB) this Wednesday night (12.11). Flamengo hosts Franca, at Tijuca Tennis Club, at 20 pm. After two matches in the competition, Rubro-Negro fights to maintain its unbeaten record and the championship lead that is currently shared with the São José team and Franca itself.
Last Friday (November 07.11th), Flabasquete traveled to Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, where they faced the home team, Liga Sorocabana. After a calm first quarter, the rest of the match was tough. Encouraged by the fans, the opposing players responded well to the strong performance of the red-and-black athletes, tying the following two periods. In the final quarter, Orgulho da Nação secured the game 97-92, achieving their second victory in the 2014/2015 NBB.
In their next match, Flabasquete will likely face another tough opponent. The Franca team, which reached the quarterfinals of last year's championship when they were eliminated by runner-up Paulistano, promises to come back even stronger and more motivated to beat Flamengo this season. In the last NBB, the two teams faced each other twice, and Flamengo prevailed on both occasions, 80-70 and 92-89. "Franca is known for working the ball a lot, having a very strong defense, and doing all of this very well. They're a well-trained team. But we know that at home, it's our team's responsibility to set the pace for the win, which is our main objective," said Flamengo's wing/guard, Vitor Benite.
Tickets for the match are on sale at Web Counter website. Additionally, tickets will be available for purchase two hours before the match at the entrance to the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium. Tickets cost R$30 full price and R$15 half price, the same price charged to Flamengo fans. Members also receive a 50% discount, which cannot be combined with the half-price ticket.
