FlaBasquete prevails away from home, defeating Fortaleza 88-81 in the second round of the NBB.

Wesley was the standout player for Flamengo with 19 points; the Pride of the Nation returns to play in Rio in the next round against Corinthians.

In another away game in the NBB, FlaBasquete beat Fortaleza BC 88-81 this Saturday (10), at the UNIFOR gym, and remains firmly in the fight for the competition's lead. Wesley was the top scorer for Flamengo in the game with 19 points. In the next round, the Pride of the Nation will play again at Maracanãzinho against Corinthians.

1st Bedroom

The game started with Fortaleza taking an early lead, opening up a four-point advantage. Then, Wesley penetrated the paint and scored the first two points for Flamengo with a layup. After a beautiful assist from Negrete, Wesley scored two more points to turn the score in Flamengo's favor. On the court, Gueiros received the ball open on the perimeter and hit a three-pointer, extending the lead to 10 points. Captain Jhonatan Luz provided a beautiful assist for Lucas Doria to score two more points. With relative ease, the Pride of the Nation closed out the quarter with a 21-11 victory.

2st Bedroom

Returning for the second quarter, Lucas Doria shot a three-pointer, but the ball fell in. Fortaleza came back stronger and managed to close the gap on the scoreboard. Negrete drove into the paint and scored his first points of the game. Following that, Negrete shone on both defense and offense. The Argentinian made a beautiful block to prevent Fortaleza from scoring, and when he went on the offensive, he hit a three-pointer. The Pride of the Nation regained its rhythm and reclaimed a 12-point lead. Cummings went for a dunk and scored two more points on the final play of the period. FlaBasquete went into halftime leading 44-31.  

3st Bedroom

At the start of the third quarter, Gui Deodato drew a foul during a three-point attempt, resulting in three free throws. The number 1 jersey player converted two. Following that, Gui hit two consecutive three-pointers, stepping up his game at the right moment and helping the Flamengo team maintain a comfortable lead. In the final half of the period, Fortaleza rallied and closed the gap again. But Flamengo held firm and finished the quarter with a 64-58 victory. 

4st Bedroom

In the final quarter, Gui Deodato provided a good assist for Gueiros to score two more points with a layup. Cummings stole the ball, went down the fast break, and scored with a layup. Throughout the period, the Flamengo team managed their lead with the youngsters on the court. In the final minute, Fortaleza tried to mount a comeback, but Flamengo quickly regained control and closed out the game with an 88-81 victory. 

Next appointment

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Wednesday (14) to face Corinthians, at 20 pm, at Maracanãzinho, for the third round of the NBB return.
