After the vacation period, the FlaBasquete athletes returned this Tuesday morning (1) to the Mais Querido headquarters to begin pre-season work. Aiming at planning for the red-black commitments of 2017/18, the technical committee and CUIDAR (Unified Center for Identification and Development of Performance Athletes) promoted a schedule of tests and exams for the first week of activities.

In addition to blood tests and medical evaluations, the players also underwent stress tests, FMS, and other procedures to ensure peak performance throughout the season. In partnership with the Hermes Pardini Laboratory, the IORJ (Rio de Janeiro Institute of Ophthalmology), and the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), CUIDAR ensured the return of the Pride of the Nation with the best specialists.

For Izabel Miranda Rohlfs, responsible for the project, pre-season work is fundamental and very important in all modalities.

"Pre-season testing aims to assess the current health and performance status of adult athletes. This way, we can initiate a more assertive and objective action plan and planning for the season. We want to improve performance, as well as prevent and maintain their health. To this end, we seek partnerships to conduct these assessments in the best possible way. We have the IORJ, the COB (Brazilian Olympic Committee), and the Hermes Pardini group. This moment is unique, as it is the first time we are conducting a comprehensive assessment, and it will serve as a model for other sports as well," explained Izabel.

The adult team will begin its training routine next week and begin preparations for the Campeonato Carioca, which is scheduled to begin at the end of August.
