Flamengo achieved an impressive milestone in the game that marked the beginning of the second stage of the Basketball Development League (LDB). On the morning of this Wednesday (31.07), in São José dos Campos (SP), the Most Beloved defeated Grêmio Náutico União, by 92 to 50, and reached the tenth consecutive victory in the competition.

"It was important for us to get into the swing of things. Flamengo has a history of every first game being difficult for us. This was the first time we played a game where we felt more relaxed. I put everyone in; that's my rule. In decisive games, I need everyone fully fit and ready to play. I'm not going to win the championship with five players; I'm going to win with the whole team," Flamengo coach Paulo Chupeta told the National Basketball League website.

With the result, Flamengo maintains its 100% record and remains atop the LDB after ten rounds. The game featured Flamengo's Chupeta, with 25 points, as the top scorer and marked the return of point guard Gegê, who scored 11 points, ten assists, and nine rebounds. The player was absent from the first stage of the LDB, as he was with the Brazilian Youth National Team.

The loss for the red-and-black team was shooting guard Gabriel Andrade. The player, voted 17th best in the first stage of the LDB, suffered a minor injury to his right knee during a team training session last week. He will be rested for Flamengo's next four games in São José dos Campos.

Paulo Chupeta's team will play again this Thursday (01.08), at 13 pm, in São José dos Campos. The opponent this time will be Limeira.
