Rubro-Negro scores 80 to 72 against Franca, away from home

This Sunday morning saw another victory for FlaBasquete in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). After a hard-fought match against Franca, José Neto's team won the head-to-head match 80-72 and remained close to the playoffs. The top scorer in the match, at the Pedrocão gym, was shooting guard Vitor Benite with 25 points.
"We knew the outside shot had to work because of the opponent's posture in the game. That's what happened in the second half, we managed to find a good teammate to shoot. We came into this series of away games and this victory was the first step and now it's time to study Pinheiros," said shooting guard Marquinhos, who stood out with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists.
The game
One of the standouts in Flamengo's last match against Uberlândia, Olivinha also led the way in the first quarter, with eight points and two rebounds. Benite was also performing well, scoring six points for Flamengo, but the game started off very close, with neither team separating by more than three points. The quarter-final scoreline showed the balance: 18-18. In the second quarter, Flamengo opened up a five-point lead (32-37), but Franca fought back and turned the game around. The Pride of the Nation went into halftime trailing by just one point: 39-40.
The weather was kind to José Neto's men, who imposed their rhythm on the court and, with dunks from Meyinsse and three-pointers from Marquinhos and Benite, scored 17 points while Franca only scored nine (56-49). The opposing team closed in the final moments of the period, but Flamengo won the set 19-15. In the final quarter, Franca fought back and turned the score around, but the lead remained small (61-63). With two three-pointers from Benite and Herrmann, the Rubro-Negro regained the lead (67-63). Benite would score two more from distance and help Flamengo secure the victory, being the top scorer of the match.
