In the group stage of the Champions League of the Americas, FlaBasquete beat Boca Juniors 79-72, on Saturday night (12), in Chile. The red-black highlight in the match was the Monstrinho, Yago, with 20 points, five rebounds and four assists. The point guard finished the match with 66% success in three-point shots.

With the victory, Flamengo secured first place in Group D of the competition. The quarterfinals will be on April 6th.

The game
The match started evenly, with both teams exchanging baskets. Brandon Robinson's layup in transition and JP Batista's three-pointer opened the scoring for Flamengo. Later in the period, Flamengo turned to three-pointers, but their low efficiency prevented them from opening up a lead.

But in the final stretch of the first quarter, Mineiro and Dar Tucker scored baskets from the perimeter to improve the team's efficiency and put Flamengo ahead. Balbi also hit another shot from distance, and the Pride of the Nation closed out the first half with a 20-15 lead.

The second quarter picked up where the first left off, with a barrage of three-pointers! Faverani capitalized on a beautiful team move to connect from the perimeter, then Luke Martinez and Yago hit three-pointers. And the Mais Querido didn't stop there. The team continued to use the perimeter beautifully, and Yago finished the period with another three-pointer as the clock expired. Flamengo went into halftime leading 44-42, shooting 47% from three-point range, with 11 made shots.

The third quarter began with Yago dominating the action. The Flamengo point guard was sharp from the perimeter, connecting on three more shots and providing a beautiful assist for a layup by JP Batista. Later in the quarter, Boca Juniors fought back and reduced Flamengo's lead, but Luke Martinez hit a three-pointer to end Flamengo's run. The period ended 63-57.

The Pride of the Nation started the final and decisive quarter of the match with a bang. With their concentration at an all-time high, Balbi hit two three-pointers, and the team went on an 8-2 run to open the period. Late in the match, Flamengo controlled the pace and closed out the scoring with a 79-72 victory.

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Friday (18) to face Paulistano, at 18:30 pm, at Maracanãzinho, for the NBB.
