FlaBasquete beats Minas away from home in its NBB debut
With a gala performance by Vildoza, who recorded a double-double, Rubro-Negro began the fight for the eighth championship with a convincing performance.
By Communication - Flamengo - inIt was a right-handed start! FlaBasquete won and convinced on Saturday night (15), at Arena BH, in the debut in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), against Minas. In the re-edition of the semifinal of the last playoffs of the tournament, Rubro-Negro had a good performance and achieved victory by 85 to 73.
The game
Making his debut defending the Sacred Mantle in the NBB, Argentine Jose Vildoza showed the nation that he has a lot of quality: he was the top scorer with 19 points, reached a double-double with his ten assists, and scored 20 in efficiency - not counting the nine assists from his brother, which left the athlete close to a triple-double.
Another player who showed the quality expected by the Biggest Fanbase in the World was winger Gui Deodato, who faced his former team. The star scored 15 points—with four shots from the perimeter. Gabriel Jaú led the way in rebounds with ten.
Collectively, coach Gustavo De Conti's men performed well and had the confidence to pursue victory after a tight first quarter. Coming out of halftime with an eight-point lead, the team actually lost the third quarter by two points, but secured the victory with a 17-23 final quarter.
Next appointment
Flamengo and Corinthians will face off for the Copa do Brasil trophy next Wednesday (19). The following day, the teams will meet again on the court with their basketball teams for the second round of the NBB. The match will be at Parque São Jorge, in the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, at 19:15 pm.
