FlaBasquete defeats Praia Clube and secures its second victory in the Under-18 Brazil Cup

Gávea's children dominate the match and secure qualification for the next phase

The second step has been taken. This Tuesday (16), the Crias da Gávea beat Praia Clube 71-48 and achieved their second victory in the Under-18 Brazilian Basketball Cup. The game, held at Tijuca Tênis Clube, was marked by the superiority of the red-black team over the opponent during the 40 minutes. Matheusinho was the top scorer with 29 points. 


The match began with Flamengo's strong defensive stance, forcing the Minas Gerais team to make numerous mistakes. With the collective effort of the quintet of Matheusinho, Magno, Aprigio, Assis, and Ruan, the Crias exchanged scores, and the game remained even, with the opposing team holding a slight advantage. 

From the bench, Paulo Chupeta changed the lineup, bringing on winger Luiz Henrique, whose excellent marking and Ruan's excellent play in the paint helped Flamengo regain the lead. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 17-12 for Flamengo. 

Coming back for the second period, the Crias da Gávea team had a modified starting lineup. With the addition of Miguel, who typically excels at three-point shooting, coach Chupeta sought to capitalize on this skill that had been underutilized in the first 10 minutes of the match. The gamble paid off, and on the very first play, point guard Matheusinho converted a perimeter shot, and the Mais Querido extended their lead. At halftime, the score was 43-25. 

In the third half, Praia Clube returned with a more offensive approach, reducing the red-and-black advantage. In a period of ups and downs and greater balance throughout the game, the difference was 12 points. During the In the final part of the match, FlaBasquete regained its good defensive posture and combined it with improved offensive performance, closing the match well and securing its second victory in the Brazilian Basketball Cup. The final score was 71 to 48 for the Most Beloved. 

With qualification well underway, the Crias da Gávea face Tijuca Tênis Clube this Wednesday (17). The match will be played at 18 pm and will be played at home by the opponent.
