Proving the superiority of the red-black team, Rubro-Negro was ahead on the scoreboard for the 40 minutes of the ball in play, at the Maracanãzinho gymnasium, which hosted the first phase of group D of the Basketball Champions League Americas.

Defending the Sacred Mantle for the first time, Túlio da Silva led the way with 14 points, tied with Marshall of the Chilean team. Olivinha led in rebounds with 10; Yago led in assists with six.
The game
The match began with the red-and-black team's immense superiority. In the first quarter, JP Batista, Rafa Mineiro, Yago, and Balbi rained down three-pointers, a characteristic strategy of the team, and Mengão closed with a large lead: 19 to 8. Back in the second quarter, the match became more even, and the Chileans attempted a comeback. The score was 17-15, but the lead built earlier allowed Flamengo to go into halftime leading 36 to 23.
In the second half, another twenty minutes of play with the Mais Querido dominating the game. Power forward Rafael Rachel gained playing time and was one of the standouts, with a dunk and a three-pointer. The youngster replaced Olivinha, who didn't appear on offense, but was the defensive standout, with ten rebounds in the first two quarters. Túlio da Silva also came on strong, thrilling the fans in the stands with his plastic basketball, leading the scorer, and reaching 18 rebounds.

On February 1st, the red-and-black team returns to the court for the Champions League, in Buenos Aires, again against UdeC. The following day, the opponent will be Boca Juniors. The two best teams from each group will qualify. In the New Basketball Brazil (NBB), the team faces Unifacisa, next Sunday (19), at 18 pm, at Maracanãzinho.
