FlaBasquete defeats Unifacisa 83-77 and wins the Super 8 Cup for the third time

Jaú, Didi, and Scott Machado were the standouts for Mengão, each with 16 points. The crowd packed the Maracanãzinho stadium to celebrate the tournament's third title.

THREE-TIME CHAMPION!! In the grand final of the Super 8 Cup, FlaBasquete defeated Unifacisa 83-77 on Saturday afternoon (3) at Maracanãzinho, winning the competition's third title. With a solid performance from start to finish, the Pride of the Nation maintained the lead throughout the four periods. Gabriel Jaú, Didi and Scott Machado were the red-blacks' highlights of the match, all with 16 points.

1st Bedroom
The final began with both teams playing solid defense. So much so that it took almost two minutes for Orgulho da Nação to open the scoring with a two-pointer from Gui Deodato. Shortly after, Didi's first three-pointer came from the hands of Didi. The game began evenly, with both teams alternating the lead. Scott Machado, on an individual play, penetrated the paint, scored two points on a layup, and was also fouled. He converted the bonus free throw. In the final seconds, Mengão opened a narrow four-point lead and closed the quarter with a 23-19 lead.


2st Bedroom
Early in the second period, Scott Machado received the ball from the perimeter and hit another three points. Didi then converted for two, was fouled, and also scored a free throw. This gave Flamengo an eight-point lead. Flamengo almost always had the defensive rebounds, with strong defense that made Unifacisa's shots difficult. In the final minutes, when the opponent was starting to react, Unifacisa didn't give them a chance and once again capitalized on their chances. Gustavinho's team went into halftime with a 43-38 lead.






3st Bedroom
In the third quarter, Didi worked well in the paint and went for a layup to score two more points. Gui Deodato broke free from his marker and hit a three-pointer. Pushed by the Nation, the Pride of the Nation opened up a 10-point lead. Scott Machado provided a beautiful assist for Gabriel Jaú to score two more. On the court, Olivinha received a beautiful pass from Balbi for two more. The red-and-black team played a great team effort and opened up a good lead heading into the fourth quarter: 67-52.


4st Bedroom
In the final quarter, Unifacisa pushed hard, trying to make it all or nothing, and even managed to close the gap a bit. The red-and-black team began making some offensive errors and let the lead drop to single digits. But Mengão reacted quickly, regained control of the game, and increased the lead again. With an assist from Gui Deodato, Didi shot for a three-pointer, which went in to the delight of the Red-and-Black Nation, who pushed the team the entire time.

In the final minutes, Unifacisa closed the gap again, but the Pride of the Nation managed to control the result and closed the game with an 83-77 victory, winning its third Super 8 Cup title undefeated! It's worth remembering that the Red-Black team had already eliminated Bauru and Paulistano in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.


Next challenge
The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Tuesday (6) for the classic against Botafogo, at 20 pm, in General Severiano, for the New Basketball Brazil (NBB).
