The FlaBasquete youth team traveled to São Paulo this Wednesday morning (25) to compete in the first stage of the 2025 Basketball Development League. The tournament begins tomorrow (26) and runs until September 17. There are two groups with 11 teams, Flamengo is in group A, alongside teams such as Paulistano and São Paulo, and the first four in each group qualify to fight for the Série Ouro title. 

Flamengo's U-22 squad has the same core as the 2024 season, featuring Renato Nascimento, Matheus Gueiros, Matheus Leoni, Yan Marun, and Emanuel Fernandes. In addition to these players, it also boasts reinforcements for this season, including Leonardo Amorim, Bruno Leite, Jonathas Lira, Anthony Reyes, Patrick Oliveira, Israel Gomes, and Crysthian Pena. 

The headquarters of group A, of the first stage of the LDB, will be the Antonio Prado Jr. gymnasium in Paulistano. The Pride of the Nation kids debut in the championship on Friday (27), at 15:45 pm, against Thalia and end the first stage on Wednesday (02).

"We need to have a good first phase, because it's going to be a tougher phase, where we'll face São Paulo, Corinthians, and Paulistano. So this will be a phase that will put the team in a position to face tough matches, and I hope the team reacts positively so we can start the competition well," says Christiano Pereira, coach of Flamengo's under-22 basketball team.
