Flamengo crushed its biggest rival on the court. On Saturday afternoon (November 26.11), the Rubro-negro team gave Brasília no chance and won 110-72 at Tijuca Tênis Clube in the fourth round of the NBB (New Basketball Brazil). Flamengo now has three wins and one loss in the competition. Brasília lost its unbeaten streak. Marcelinho was the game's top scorer with 25 points. The next match will be against Bauru on Thursday (December 01.12) at 20 pm.
Flamengo's three-point shooting was its strongest point in the first half. Shooting 64,71%, the team converted 11 shots: four from Marcelinho, two from Hélio, two from Leandrinho, and three from David Jackson. Flamengo dominated the first quarter (27-12). When the lead reached fifteen points, Brasília began taking off its starters, citing a slippery court. Flamengo, for its part, maintained its full strength and went into halftime leading 54-33.
The second half was a real joy for Flamengo. The team remained efficient on three-pointers (60% overall), with Marcelinho standing out (seven made). The third quarter ended 86-63, and Flamengo reached 100 points with just a few minutes remaining on a Teichmann free throw. Final: 110-72.
"It was their coach's decision to take off the starters. Before the match, the referee warned that if there was any risk to the players, the match would be stopped. If they didn't stop it, it was because the game was in a condition and everyone should have played. We did our part and won an important match. Now it's time to continue the good run," explained Marcelinho.
Flamengo's basketball director, Arnando Szpiro, also commented on the incident:
"The court seemed a little slippery, but nothing that compromised the spectacle, so much so that Flamengo put on a show. We've even played on rubber courts in Brasília, and the Tijuca court is of the highest quality, newly installed. Flamengo will always choose to put its full strength on the court. Our goal is always to win," he said.
Flamengo started with: Leandrinho (22), David Jackson (17), Marcelinho \ (25), Kammerichs (4) and Caio Torres (14). Entered: Hélio (9), Fred (-), \ Guto (-), Teichmann (8), Duda (-) and Wagner (11).

NBA Strike
The news of the possible end of the NBA strike took point guard Leandrinho by surprise. The player is under contract with the Toronto Raptors and will have to return to Canada at the end of the lockout.
"It's not official yet, but there's a possibility that the season will start at Christmas. I'm living a very special moment in my career and I'm very happy at Flamengo. It's been a very good experience... I hope to end my career in Brazil, preferably at Flamengo, because Flamengo is Flamengo," said Leandrinho.
