FlaBasquete had a few missions tonight: to take the lead from Mogi, confirm their undefeated home record, and let the NBB know that the champion is back. All accomplished. In front of just over 1.300 people at the Arena Carioca, Marquinhos, JP, and Ramon, with 20, 22, and 21 points respectively, led a resounding victory that put Flamengo at the top of the competition standings. Now, Mengão returns to the court against Liga Sorocabana next Thursday at 19 pm, at the same Arena.  

Flamengo started with Cubillan, Ramon, Olivinha, Marquinhos, and JP Batista. But the team that took the court at the beginning didn't gel. In the first three minutes, only Mogi played, even opening up a 0-13 lead. Neto called a timeout, but didn't make any changes to the team. The team couldn't get their offense going, making many passing errors and giving up turnovers to the São Paulo team.

Just five minutes into the game, Flamengo found their rhythm, with Ramon scoring three goals. Then, Marquinhos added two more. The crowd began to push the team even harder, and the tide started to turn. Mogi's shots stopped falling, while Flamengo's were finding their mark, and the difference was reduced to eight at the end of the first half, with a score of 17-25. 

A new Flamengo emerged in the second quarter. Literally. Neto brought Marcelinho, Pecos, and Pilar onto the court, and the game changed completely. Pilar once again ignited the match with his fighting spirit and decisive plays, but it was Pecos who found the net from outside the paint to turn the game around to 30-27, with 5:41 remaining.

Mogi regained the lead, but Ramon, from the baseline, sent the ball straight into the basket (33-34). Immediately afterward, Marcelinho found João Vitor open in the paint, and the number 34 dunked to put Flamengo ahead again. The balance promised at the beginning of the game appeared at the end of the first half. With 10 seconds remaining, JP Batista put Flamengo ahead again (37-36), and Guerrinha called a timeout for Mogi, but it was no use, and Flamengo finished ahead. 

The third quarter started hot. Mogi took the lead, but Ramon, with a three-pointer, and Marquinhos, after a steal, put Flamengo back in front. Marquinhos then extended the lead to 44-41 by driving into the paint and scoring another dunk.

Flamengo gained momentum and JP began to dominate the paint, scoring 10 points in that quarter alone. In the end, Pecos found Marcelinho with an alley-oop to close out the quarter 61-52, Flamengo's biggest lead of the game. After that, they managed the game to finish 77-71 and celebrate taking the lead.
