The base of the red-and-black basketball team celebrates another state title. Playing in Gávea against Vasco da Gama, the "Mais Querido" won 57-53 and closed out the decisive series in the U-15 category, led by coach Fernando Pereira. In the first match, the red-and-black team had already defeated the Cruzmaltina team 58-55, at São Januário, and managed to maintain its dominance to lift the trophy in front of its home crowd.

With a solid and consistent project with the kids from Gávea, Fernandinho spoke about the category's 2017 year.
"It was a wonderful year because they were committed, dedicated, focused, and, above all, united. They are boys of great technical quality and character. So it's only fair that, in addition to improving significantly, they won both tournaments they competed in: the South American Championship in Paraná, and now the State Championship, finishing the year with 27 wins and only three losses. And of course, I need to thank the entire coaching staff, as their support was fundamental to such a special season," said Fernandinho.
The coach also analyzed the decisive match.
"It was a well-contested game until the final quarter, when we managed to open up a 14-point lead with five minutes remaining and manage the result until the end. We achieved victory and the title at home, in front of our parents and our fans," he concluded.
