Flamengo took the court for the last time in this qualifying round of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB) and defeated Suzano this Wednesday (April 10.04) by 89 to 56 – the team's 30th victory. The game was played at the Tijuca Tennis Club gymnasium and was part of the 33rd round of the championship. The standout player of the match was power forward Olivinha. Normally the leading rebounder, this time he scored 17 points and was the top scorer of the match.

"Flamengo always takes to the court with the goal of winning, and today was no different. We're very happy to have finished first in the qualifying round. This goal was achieved, and now it's time to train hard for the playoffs," said Olivinha.

In Wednesday's match, the Rubro-Negro team took the court already ranked first. The team has had a great run in the competition so far, securing the outright lead with two rounds remaining. The match against Suzano also served as an opportunity for coach José Neto to maximize his rotation on the court and instill more playing time in all of his available players, such as youngsters Feliz, Diego, and Chupeta.

"There were 34 games and 30 wins for a team that was only six months old. That's a very important thing to highlight. Even so, this milestone only served to achieve our first objective. Our greatest desire is much greater than that," the coach added.

With first place overall, Rubro-Negro secured a direct spot in the NBB quarterfinals and awaits its opponent, who will come out of the next stage of the competition.
