On Wednesday night (14), Flamengo went to the Linneu de Moura Gymnasium to face São José and the positive result was repeated for the same side for the 26th time: victory for Mais Querido. With a great performance by Jhonatan Luz, responsible for 18 points, Fla won by 64 to 57.
With this result, the team wins its eighth game in ten played, closely fighting for first place in the Novo Basquete Brasil 11 table.
The match was a tough one, as expected. The heated atmosphere from the opening minutes predicted what the contest would be like until the end: heated, hard-fought, and full of emotion. In the first period, Flamengo couldn't quite put its own spin on the game, losing 22-15. Then, despite a poor start to the fourth quarter, Gustavo De Conti managed to get the details right, and the Red-Blacks prevailed, going into halftime with a 34-30 lead.
Just like the beginning, the second half was also a close affair. With Jhonatan starting to show some improvement, Mengo didn't let São José extend their lead and even took the lead in the third period: 45-44. The pace remained intense until the final minutes, but tradition prevailed, giving Mais Querido the lead: 64-57.
The Most Beloved returns to the court on Friday (16), at 21:10 pm, when it goes to Ginásio Antonio Prado Jr. to face Paulistano.
