Flamengo crushed Iguaçu 107-23 in the Rubro-negro's debut match in the 2011 State Championship, this Saturday (17.09), at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, in Gávea. The highlight of the game was the American David Jackson who showed what he was capable of and was the top scorer with 26 points.

In the first quarter, the red-and-black team went on the attack and opened a 22-point lead, finishing the quarter 29-7. David Jackson scored 12 points. In the second half, Iguaçu tried to react, but Flamengo proved superior, remaining on the attack most of the time, winning 58-12.

The Gávea team continued to pressure the opposing defense in the third quarter, giving them no chance to react. Teichmann shone, unleashing his dunks, sending the crowd into a frenzy, and the score was 78-18. In the final quarter, Flamengo gave no respite, opening a 74-point lead, finishing 107-23.

At the end of the match, David was satisfied with his debut performance for Rubro-negro and showed his willingness to continue as one of the team's highlights this season.

"I went on the court to do what I've been practicing during this training period. The opposing team wasn't very strong, so we didn't have any major difficulties. I want to continue doing my job, being present on defense and offensive on offense," he said.

Flamengo returns to the court for the State Championship next Monday (19.09), against Tijuca Tênis Clube, at 20 pm, in Tijuca.
