Undefeated leader of the NBB, Flamengo has another challenge, this Thursday (20.12), in the NBB. The team faces Liga Sorocabana, at 20 pm, in Sorocaba, looking for its sixth consecutive victory in the competition. It will be the penultimate challenge of the Rubro-negro in 2012. The team also faces Bauru, next Saturday (22.12), at 18 pm, in Bauru.
This Thursday's opponent, Liga Sorocabana, sits second-to-last in the overall standings, with one win in six games. But Flamengo coach José Neto expects a tough match.
"The Sorocabana League is a very strong team playing at home, and Flamengo already saw that last season. Since securing a spot in the NBB, the team has shown great progress, strengthening its position in the competition. This year, they signed three quality foreigners, and the expectation is a tough game," said Neto.
Flamengo has been on a marathon of games and travels since its debut in the NBB on November 24.11th. Since then, there have been six matches in the South American League (three in the second phase, in São Paulo, and three in the final phase, in Argentina) and five in the national championship.
"Our team is coming off a run of games where we've encountered some difficulties, but we've strengthened ourselves through those difficulties. I see Flamengo establishing itself and excelling at key moments in matches. Furthermore, in each match, a different player stands out, which shows that the team is strong," analyzed the coach.
