Flamengo seeks a comeback and defeats Básquet Coruña 90-89 in a friendly in Spain

American Shaq Johnson was the standout with 18 points scored. The red-black team faces Granada next Sunday (8)

In its second international friendly played in Spain, the Pride of the Nation showed its power of reaction and beat Básquet Coruña by 90 to 89, on Friday afternoon (6), in Granada. The red-black highlight in the match was the American Shaq Johnson with 18 points. Now, the Most Beloved returns to the court on Sunday (8) to face Granada.

1st Bedroom
The first quarter started fairly evenly, with both teams trading points. As the period progressed, Básquet Coruña managed to open up a small lead. The Pride of the Nation managed to cut the deficit to four points, but in the final minutes, the home team regained control of the match and closed the period at 27-17.

2st Bedroom
In the second quarter, the home team continued to score, and Flamengo tried to close the gap. Gui Deodato and Balbi each converted a three-pointer to keep the Pride of the Nation in the game. Jhonatan Luz also hit a three-pointer from the dead zone. By the end of the quarter, FlaBasquete had narrowed the lead to 52-44.

3st Bedroom
Early in the third quarter, Kayo Gonçalves converted two free throws. Shaq Johnson, from the perimeter, shot, and the ball fell. Halfway through the period, FlaBasquete closed the deficit to three points. A good comeback from the red-and-black team, which improved its defense. For the first time, the Pride of the Nation took the lead on the scoreboard with Kayo Gonçalves and closed the period ahead 71-69.

4st Bedroom
At the start of the fourth quarter, Básquet Coruña regained the lead by one point. On offense, Jordan Williams spun past the defense and converted from the perimeter. With that, Mengão regained the lead. The match remained even until the end, and the Pride of the Nation secured the victory by one point: 90-89.  

Next challenge
FlaBasquete returns to the court on Sunday (8) for the third international friendly, when it faces Granada, at 13:30 pm (Brasília time).
