Flamengo will participate in the 5th edition of the Basketball Development League (LDB), along with 24 other teams, starting on July 24th in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. The date was announced this week by the National Basketball League (LNB). Flamengo, led by Rodrigo Silva, José Neto's assistant coach on the main team, is the most successful team in the under-22 competition.

With titles from 2011 and 2013, Flamengo heads to Uberlândia seeking its third championship with a team full of new faces, as the boys' coach explains. "We started training two weeks ago, so we're in our third week of training. We've already assembled the team, and since few players from last year stayed, we had to bring in some new players. We're training hard, preparing the team. It's a tough, long competition, with many consecutive games. It's a very difficult competition; we have to maintain consistency, which isn't so easy at this age," he said.

The big news for this competition is the presence of the Brazilian U-17 national team, invited by the National Basketball League (LNB). The national team will be led by André Germano and will feature two Flamengo players: Tiago Zibecchi and João Vítor França dos Santos. The young squad will use this experience to prepare for the 2015 South American Championship in September.
