In pursuit of its eighth championship, Flamengo won another match in the State Basketball Championship. After beating Riachuelo in its debut, the team defeated Botafogo 90-49 on Monday night (October 01.10st) at Tijuca Tênis Clube, in a second-round match. The Rubro-negro team ends its participation in the first round of the competition next Friday (October 05.10th) against Tijuca, at 20 pm, at the same venue.
Before that, however, Flamengo will play a friendly match to prepare for the South American League and the NBB. On Wednesday (October 03.10), the team will face Brasília in the biggest Brazilian derby of the moment, at 20 p.m., also in Tijuca. Entry will be 1 kg of non-perishable food.
The Gávea team is also using the State Championship to gain game rhythm and chemistry for the season's other competitions. And the match against Botafogo was a good test. Olivinha led the way with 17 points.
"Our team is in the preparation phase, and it's normal for it to still be a little inconsistent. It's lacking a bit of cohesion. But everything is going according to plan, and today against Botafogo was another good test. We're training hard to improve for the upcoming matches," said forward/guard Vitor Benite.
After winning the first quarter 27-7, Flamengo went into halftime winning 43-29. The third quarter ended 67-41 and the final quarter was 90-49.
Flamengo started with: Kojo (8), Benite (10), Marcelinho (6), Feliz (11) and Shilton (14). Entered: Marquinhos (7), Olivinha (17), Duda (10), Douglas (2), Alexandre (-), Gegê (2) and Chupeta (3).
