Last Saturday (17), Flamengo was crowned champion of yet another international basketball tournament. After winning the final by a score of 43x26, against Minas Tênis Clube, Mais Querido won the South American Basketball Tournament of the Military Circle of Paraná, in the traditional under-15 men's category.

In addition to the title, Gávea's João Vitor Belmiro was recognized for some individual achievements. He was named the Best Player of the Tournament and the Best Defender of the Tournament, and was also named to the All-Championship Team. Marcelo Coelho, also a Flamengo player, was named the tournament's top three-point scorer.

In the Franca Youth Basketball Tournament, which had been underway since the 14th, the under-13 team, led by coach Nelson Mourão, took fourth place. The match was against Pinheiros, and in a very close game, victory narrowly escaped, with the "Mais Querido" team losing 57-53.

The Flamengo Regatas Club basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Estácio, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources generated by the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved Club.
