Flamengo and Macaé begin the State final
Mais Querido is visiting in the first game; expectations are for tough clashes

This Monday (October 28.10) marks the start of the State Basketball Championship finals. At 19 p.m., at their opponent's home ground, Flamengo faces Macaé in the first game of the final. In the three clashes between the two teams in the initial rounds of the competition, Flamengo emerged victorious. These results have the nation excited and certain that José Neto's team is the favorite, but in Gávea, the tone is serious and reveals the expectation of a tough battle for the trophy.
"If we want something good, we have to earn it every game. Macaé has already shown us that they have a good squad, do a good job, and are resilient. We have to worry about that and take every care to win once again," said coach José Neto.
Center Olivinha echoed his coach's words. "Just because we've beaten all the teams (Macaé and Campos) three times doesn't mean the final will be easy. Macaé has a lot of quality, and their squad is experienced. We're expecting tough matches, especially since we beat them by a near-zero margin (six points) in the last match. We need to be fully focused to get both wins and lift another title," he said.
The second match of the finals will be played on the evening of next Wednesday (10/30), at 7:30 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, with Rubro-Negro as the home team. If Mais Querido wins both duels, they will win the State title. If they win just one of them, a third and decisive clash will be held on Thursday (10/31), at 8 pm, again at the Tijuca gymnasium.
