Flamengo achieved its fourth consecutive victory in NBB 5 and became the only undefeated team in the competition. On Saturday night (15.12), the Rubro-negro defeated Basquete Cearense 86 x 61, at Tijuca Tênis Clube. The next challenge will be on Monday (17.12), against Mogi, at 21 pm, at Tijuca.

Despite a poor start, with numerous errors, Flamengo won the first quarter 17-14. The team improved in the second, forcing the defense more, and went into halftime leading 42-23, with 15 points from Marquinhos. The team maintained its momentum and won the third quarter 63-45 and the game 86-61.

"We did our homework and got another important victory. But there's still a long way to go in the tournament, a lot to happen. I think it's premature to talk about favoritism. The tournament is still wide open," said coach José Neto, assessing the team's performance. "I think we fell a bit short in the first quarter, as happened in the last match against Brasília. We'll try to correct that in the next few games," he added.

Marquinhos led the way with 19 points. Olivinha, once again, finished with a double-double: 18 points and 11 rebounds.

"The team played a great game. Our defense worked well from the second quarter onwards, and we managed to come away with the victory. But now it's time to forget what happened and think about the next challenge, against Mogi," said Olivinha.

Before the match, a minute of silence was observed for the death of the club's Great Benefactor, Luiz César Póvoa.

Flamengo started with: Kojo (6), Benite (14), Marquinhos (19), Olivinha (18) and Caio Torres (5). Entered: Shilton (4), Duda (11), Gegê (6), Diego (1), Feliz (2) and Chupeta (-).
