The Pride of the Nation is on a two-game winning streak. The last one, on December 17.12th, was against rival Brasília and marked the Rubro-Negro's fifth consecutive victory in the classic. FlaBasquete now has a five-game home streak in the NBB and counts on the support of the Nation to continue its quest for the top spot.

São José, Flamengo's opponent in the 2014/15 NBB quarterfinals, is currently in sixth place and has also won its last two matches. On December 15.12, they became the first team to defeat Paulistano, who had been unbeaten in eight matches, in this season's NBB.

Flamengo and São José played a thrilling match in the 2014/15 NBB playoffs. Flamengo was the only opponent to make Flamengo play every game in the best-of-five playoff series, but they couldn't hold out in the final match, losing 98-64 at the Tijuca Tennis Club. São José would go on to win the championship after defeating Limeira and Bauru in the semifinals and final, respectively.
