On a night when nothing went right, Flamengo ended up being defeated by Boca Juniors 81-58, this Friday (17), at Ginásio do Obras, in Argentina, in the semifinals of the Basketball Champions League Americas (BCLA). With the defeat, the red-and-black team will play for third place against Nacional (URU) this Saturday (18), at 17:40 pm, at the same venue. Meanwhile, Boca and Franca will play the final of the continental competition.

Before the game even started, however, the atmosphere was one of profound sadness among the Flamengo fans. Brazilian basketball bid farewell today to Oscar Schmidt, one of the greatest idols in the history of the sport and also an eternal name associated with Flamengo. Sergio Hernández's team took to the court motivated to win and honor him, but ultimately stumbled on an uninspired night and failed to translate their intentions into results.

1st Bedroom

In the opening moments of the game, Boca Juniors took the lead with a three-pointer. Flamengo responded immediately with Shaq Johnson, who drove into the paint and scored the first two points for the red-and-black team. In the initial minutes, the team from Gávea struggled with their shots, with the ball stubbornly refusing to fall. Taking advantage of Flamengo's mistakes, Boca Juniors extended their lead. Flamengo's first three-pointer only fell in the final minute of the quarter, by Jhonatan. With a ten-point lead, the Argentinians closed the quarter at 19-9.

2st Bedroom

In the second quarter, the game continued in the same vein, with Flamengo committing many offensive errors, while Boca took advantage to extend their lead. Flamengo tried to regain their composure, but continued to struggle with low shooting accuracy. The Argentinian team went into halftime leading 44-27.

3st Bedroom

In the third period, Flamengo continued to encounter the same difficulties as in the first two quarters and couldn't string together a series of points to reduce the deficit. In the final minutes, the red-and-black team showed signs of a comeback, but just when it seemed they were about to get going, Boca scored again and maintained a good lead, closing the quarter at 61-41.

4st Bedroom

In the final quarter, Boca Juniors managed the lead they had built up throughout the game. Flamengo couldn't find their rhythm on the court and continued to make many mistakes, both offensively and defensively. In the end, the Argentinians secured the victory 81-58. Now, Flamengo will face Nacional of Uruguay in the BCLA third-place match.
