In the second game of the Brazilian window of the Basketball Champions League Americas (BCLA), Flamengo ended up being defeated by Nacional, from Uruguay, by 95 to 76, on Monday night (19), at Maracanãzinho. It is worth remembering that the Pride of the Nation is already qualified for the quarterfinals of the continental competition, but can no longer reach the leadership of Group B, which is already held by the Uruguayan team. 

Now, Rubro-Negro turns its attention to the NBB, a competition in which it is in the lead, and will face Mogi das Cruzes, next Thursday (22), at Maracanãzinho. Two days later, on Saturday (24), Sergio Hernández's team debuts in the Super 8 Cup against São José, also in Rio de Janeiro. Dominating the jump ball, Nacional started the game with a four-point lead. Flamengo, in turn, responded immediately with a three-pointer from Cummings. The beginning of the game was quite balanced, with the teams trading points on offense. The Uruguayan team, with good shooting accuracy, led the scoreboard with a small advantage. As the game progressed, Nacional showed consistency, committing few errors. On the court, Jhonatan Luz shot from the three-point line, the ball bounced and fell, raising the spirits of the Flamengo fans in the Maracanãzinho. Although the Flamengo team showed signs of a comeback, Nacional was superior in the quarter and closed the period winning 34-22.

Flamengo returned stronger for the second quarter and reduced the difference to eight points in the first few minutes. The Uruguayan team's initial momentum decreased, but, in return, the Flamengo team continued to make mistakes on offense and wasted shots. From the corner, Gui Deodato converted a three-pointer. It is worth highlighting Nacional's excellent three-point shooting percentage, which put them in a comfortable lead at halftime: 59 to 39. 

3st Bedroom 

Returning for the third quarter, Nacional maintained their momentum and continued to impose a strong rhythm on the court. FlaBasquete tried to reduce the difference, but stumbled due to their own errors, mainly their low success rate from three-point range. In the final stretch of the period, Flamengo managed to shorten the gap at one point, but the Uruguayan team quickly regained control of the game and won the quarter by 20 points: 73 to 53. 

4st Bedroom 

In the opening seconds of the final quarter, Kayo Gonçalves hit two three-pointers, rekindling hopes of a comeback. The fans rallied behind the team, cheering even harder. Manel, playing well, stood out offensively, scoring important points. However, the Flamengo comeback attempt was thwarted by Nacional's excellent three-point shooting, which remained consistent until the end, securing a 95-76 victory.

Next challenge 

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court on Thursday (22) to face Mogi das Cruzes, at 20 pm, again at Maracanãzinho, in another round of the NBB return leg.
