Flamengo ended its preparation on Spanish soil on Friday night (12), in a balanced clash against San Sebastian. The match, played at 20 pm local time (15 pm in Brasília), ended with a victory for the home team by 84 to 79, defined only in the final moments.
With this result, Mais Querido concludes its series of friendlies in Europe, an important stage in preparation for the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, which will be held in Singapore from the 18th.
Coach Sergio Hernández took stock of the club's time in Spain and highlighted the challenges faced in pre-season:
"The preparation in Brazil didn't go as planned; we were late in receiving some players. Baralle and Ruan's injuries also delayed the process, and we had players who arrived directly for the trip. Here in Spain, we weren't able to develop our game as we would have liked, but that's what these friendlies are for. It's better to face the challenges now and arrive better prepared for the World Cup. I thank Flamengo for their entire organization, which spared no effort to ensure we arrive in Singapore in the best possible condition. We are very happy and excited to represent the Americas in a competition of the magnitude of the Intercontinental Cup," said the coach.
The red-and-black delegation now heads to Madrid, where they will depart next Sunday for Singapore, the stage for their quest for a third world championship.
