Flamengo is overtaken by Franca and drops to second in the standings

Flamengo and Franca played a great match in the interior of São Paulo. With a back-and-forth score, both teams took the lead several times, but in the end, Franca prevailed. With a score of 84-77 against them, Flamengo dropped to second place in the 2018-2019 NBB, to Sesi itself, and will play again on Saturday in the Rio derby against Vasco, at Arena Carioca 1, at 14 pm. In a very even match, Deryk, with 18 points, ended up being the red-and-black's top scorer. Balbi, with 15, and Marquinhos, with 14, also stood out. Once again, the team grabbed more rebounds than their opponents (38 to 35) and also made more three-pointers (9 to 8). But it was efficiency in the paint that decided the match, especially on free throws. With more fouls in their favor, Sesi Franca scored 16 points this way, which influenced the final result.
Flamengo led for two quarters, the first and third. The opening 10 minutes were a red-and-black spectacle, with great performances from Balbi, Kevin, and Mineiro. A resounding 21-15 victory put the team in good shape for the remainder of the game. However, fueled by the packed Pedrocão stadium crowd, Franca came back in the second quarter, leading by 11 points at the end with great performances from Lucas Dias and Didi, with 10 and nine points, respectively.
The second half was more the home team's cup of tea. With good free throw shooting and numerous fouls, Franca maintained their lead despite losing the half by two points, 15-17 to Flamengo, whose key players were Marquinhos and Deryk. In the final quarter, however, Deryk was on top form (he scored 10), but Didi and David Jackson made the difference on the other side, grabbing 10 rebounds and securing the victory.
