Flamengo returns to the court this Saturday (February 25.02) against one of its direct rivals in the fight for the NBB lead. Second in the overall standings, the team faces third-place São José at 19 pm at Tijuca Tênis Clube. After a significant victory over Joinville in the last round, Flamengo now has 15 wins in 19 matches. Their opponent has the same number of wins, but has played one more game. Leader Pinheiros, who will not be playing this Saturday, has 17 wins in 21 matches.
In the first round, against São José, the Rio de Janeiro team achieved a tight victory by 101 x 98, at the opponent's home.
"Flamengo and São José are two teams fighting for the top spot, so we can only expect a great match. In São José, we secured a crucial victory by a margin of three points, and now we have to take advantage of the home advantage to emerge victorious once again," said captain Marcelinho, who scored 40 points in the last game.
Flamengo is on a three-game winning streak in the NBB, against Bauru, Liga Sorocabana and Joinville, respectively.
"We know how balanced the championship is, and it's important to maintain a good run of results, especially in home games, to stay in the fight for the lead," Marcelinho added.
