Reenacting one of the greatest classics in Brazilian basketball, Flamengo and Brasília face each other this Tuesday (16.12), at 19:30 pm, for the 11th round of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), on the court of Tijuca Tênis Clube. Second in the championship table and with a 75% success rate in the competition, the Orgulho da Nação faces the team from Brasília, its main rival in recent years of the NBB. In six seasons, Flamengo and Brasília have won every title in the competition together. With three championships apiece, the teams have alternated as champions, putting on epic matches full of rivalry. Riding high on three straight wins, Flamengo plays this Tuesday aiming to close the gap on leaders Limeira, who defeated Brasília in the last round of the NBB. Currently, their opponent from the country's capital sits in 13th place and is looking to reestablish itself in the competition.

 

Regardless of the two teams' current form, the certainty of a great game remains unchanged, nor do the players' expectations for the match. After scoring 24 points, leading the scorer in the match against the São José team last Friday, shooting guard Vitor Benite spoke about his expectations for the match. "The match against Brasília is always a classic. These are two teams with a lot of tradition and are winners. We know they're coming off a few losses, which isn't normal for a team of this caliber, so they'll certainly play with extra motivation to beat Flamengo. However, we'll be playing at home and must focus on the progress we're making, aiming for a great match for us players, for the fans, and for another victory," said Benite.
