Flamengo faces Tijuca in the State Basketball Championship.

Flamengo returns to the court this Friday (October 5th) for the final round of the first half of the State Basketball Championship. The team faces Tijuca at 05.10 pm at the Tijuca Tennis Club gymnasium. Admission is free. The second half will be played from October 15th to 20th, and the finals will take place between November 19.10th and 9th.
After two comfortable victories in the first rounds, against Riachuelo and Botafogo respectively, Flamengo, seeking its eighth championship, will face a more competitive match ahead. Tijuca, which plays in the NBB (Brazilian basketball league), also won its two matches.
Flamengo is coming off a victory over Brasília, 91-83, in a friendly match held last Wednesday (October 03.10rd) in Tijuca. It was the first derby of the season for the revamped team. The team is preparing for the South American League at the end of October and the NBB starting in November.
"We are still in the preparation phase, looking for cohesion and rhythm, and we need to correct some fundamentals. On the other hand, I am satisfied with the players' attitude. It's been a good start for us," said coach José Neto.
On Sunday (October 07.10th), Flamengo travels to Buenos Aires where they will play three friendly matches against Boca Juniors, Lanus and Vélez, on October 8th, 9th and 10.10th, respectively.
