This Friday (13.11), FlaBasquete will host a team at home for the first time in the 2015/16 season of Novo Basquete Brasil. The opponent will be Rio Claro, in a match valid for the fourth round of NBB 8. This will be the first performance of the team captain, Marcelinho Machado, after undergoing arthroscopy on his right knee on October 20.
The match will take place at the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, at the club's headquarters, in Gávea, at 20 pm. Tickets are running out, and there may be no tickets on the day of the match. Those who cannot go to Gávea can watch the match via the Rádio Fla broadcast, accessing www.radiofla.com.br. The game will not be televised.
"The expectations for this first home match are the best possible. We're improving with each game, the team is more cohesive on the court. Playing at Hélio Maurício will be different too, as we're used to home court at Tijuca (Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium). I think this closeness with the fans here at our training facility will be very positive," said the captain of the four-time NBB championship.
Regarding his return, Marcelinho added, "I'm looking forward to being back. It was only a short time away (two NBB matches), but it's always good to be on the court. We're evolving as a team, and I hope I can contribute to another Flamengo victory."
José Neto celebrated the star's return. "Marcelino has always been important; he's the leader of this team, and it's no wonder he lifts all the trophies," he said. The World Cup-winning coach also analyzed the opponent. "Rio Claro is a worrying team. They're coming in hot, having lost the semifinal of the tough São Paulo state championship to the defending champion. We have to impose our rhythm and control the match so we can achieve victory," he concluded.
Despite Marcelinho's return, the player who will be missing from José Neto's team is power forward Olivinha, who was diagnosed last Tuesday (10.11) with bone edema in his right fibula. The period away from the courts will depend on the response to the treatment applied by the team doctor, Dr. Claudio Cardone, and FlaBasquete's physiotherapist, Ricardo Machado.
