With the 81-74 victory over Liga Sorocabana this Thursday (1), FlaBasquete remains undefeated in the NBB CAIXA 2016/2017. Playing at home, at the Ginásio do Tijuca Tênis Clube, the team led by coach José Neto dominated the game and despite the opponent's attempts to react, which came close to the scoreboard a few times, and closed the game with a seven-point advantage. Rubro-Negro is the only team that has not yet lost in this year's competition and is in the isolated lead of the tournament.

The Pride of the Nation enjoyed a fine performance from Marquinhos, who finished the game with a strong performance of 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Other key players in Flamengo's victory were JP Batista and Olivinha. With just three points in the first half, JP scored 13 points in the third quarter and six in the fourth, finishing with 22, the top scorer. Olivinha came close to achieving a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds.
"We saw that the Sorocaba team is very well trained, and they made it difficult throughout the match. They were strong offensively, and they deserve it. Our unbeaten run is a credit to our training. The NBB is very even this year, but in crucial moments of the match, we know how to hold on," said JP Batista, the team's top scorer. "That's what makes our team so difficult to score against. Every player can take over. This only strengthens our club," he concluded.
