FlaBasquete's quest for another continental title didn't get off to a great start. In their Champions League Americas debut in Montevideo, the team lost 89-81 to Instituto Córdoba-ARG.

In the first quarter, Instituto Córdoba opened the scoring, but before the first lap of the clock, Orgulho da Nação had already tied the game. The opponent tried to build on their lead, but Aguirre and Gui Deodato (twice) hit three consecutive three-pointers, giving Flamengo an 11-7 lead. Instituto managed to increase its offensive volume, but FlaBasquete's defense prevailed - with its defensive system also refined, the Argentine team managed to level the score. With 30 seconds remaining in the first half, Cuello hit a beautiful three-pointer from the dead zone to level the score at 21-21.

Instituto Córdoba took the lead in the second quarter, but the score soon swung in favor of the Mais Querido. After sinking a three-pointer, Vildoza made three free throws, putting Flamengo seven points ahead: 31-24. This period saw an unusual incident: Flamengo coach Gustavo De Conti was ejected for interfering with a play in progress. The coach reflexively touched the ball while protecting himself during a play. Assistant coach Fernando Pereira took over. Flamengo maintained its strong performance and even managed to pull ahead, but the Argentines responded well. As the clock expired, Jose Vildoza made a great individual play and prevented the halftime break from ending with a deficit. With the Argentine's basket, the tie remained: 44-44.

After halftime, Instituto improved its attacking efficiency and managed to take the lead. The Argentine team capitalized on the Rubro-Negro's defensive lapses and took the lead. Vildoza led the Rubro-Negro attack, scoring 17 points. Before the final period, the score was 65-58 for the Argentine team.

In the final stage, Flamengo tried to create space in the opposing defense—without success. The Argentines managed their advantage, combining strong defensive performance with aggressive attack. Not even a good three-pointer from Gui Deodato could change the situation.
