Flamengo debuts with victory in the South American League
The team defeats Hebraica 75-67 and now faces a Chilean team in the next round.

Seeking its second championship title, Flamengo debuted with a victory in the first phase of the South American League in Mar Del Plata, Argentina. On Tuesday (October 23.10), the team defeated Hebraica/Macabi (URU) 75-67 at the Ilhas Malvinas Sports Center. On Wednesday (October 24.10), the team faces Deportes Castro of Chile at 20:15 pm (Brasília time) in the second round. Sportv will announce the broadcast. In the final round of Group C on Thursday (October 25.10), the opponent will be Peñarol (ARG) at 22:30 pm (Brasília time). The top two teams will advance to the second phase and secure a spot in the League of the Americas.
In the opening match, Marquinhos led all scorers with 22 points. Marcelinho had 19. Caio Torres finished with a double-double: 11 points and 11 rebounds.
"We knew this victory was very important for our team in the competition. We entered with great desire and managed to defend our opponent's strengths. I think this was crucial for us to emerge victorious," said Marquinhos.
"I believe we built our victory with a very strong defense in the first half. Then, we managed the lead. Tomorrow (Wednesday), against the Chilean team, we will have to continue playing the same way and go in search of another victory. We have a new team that is improving every day. That's the trend," said coach José Neto.

In the second half, Flamengo maintained a 15-point lead in the opening minutes. Then, they made a few attacking errors, and the lead dropped to 10. The final play of the first two quarters repeated itself, and this time, the fourth ended with a three-pointer from Vitor Benite: 61-50. In the final quarter, the team maintained its dominance and closed the game at 75-67.
