Flamengo debuts in the NBB with a victory over Brasília
Laprovittola had a great performance and finished the match as the top scorer, with 22 points.

The Mais Querido's debut in the sixth edition of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) couldn't have gone better. Playing at home, at the HSBC Arena, and against its biggest rival in the competition, Brasília, Flamengo won 84-82 on Saturday morning (November 09.11), and started its journey towards its third NBB championship well. The top scorer of the match was Flamengo's Laprovittola, who scored 22 points and provided five assists.
After the match, José Neto, who was without Marcelinho, Meyinsse, and Marquinhos, highlighted the group's willingness to put on a great show for the red-and-blacks present at HSBC Arena. "Brasília has a lot of quality and played practically complete. In a situation like this, the last thing we think about are the difficulties. We play with a lot of will and overcoming obstacles. We think about how we can make the fans who attended the game happy, because this is more than just a game. We always think about what we can do as a team," he said.

With three-pointers going in (especially from Laprovittola, Gegê, and Olivinha), Flamengo reached 57 points by the end of the third quarter, but the Brasília team fought back and managed to maintain the same lead as at the end of the first half. In the fourth quarter, the visitors' comeback continued, and the Flamengo lead was reduced to just one point, but the Flamengo players remained steadfast and kept their composure to halt Brasília's momentum. Under Laprovittola's leadership, Flamengo once again improved and performed brilliantly in the final minute of the match, with Olivinha also standing out, surpassing the 3-point mark in all NBB editions combined. The power forward was the sixth athlete in the history of the competition to reach this mark, after Marcelinho Machado (3621), Shammel (3228), Alex Garcia (3145), Murilo Becker (3041) and Marquinhos (3012).
