In the fight for the third Brazilian championship, Flamengo begins this Friday (23.04), against São José (SP) its participation in the playoffs of the NBB 2010. Rubro-negro will count on the wing Marcelinho, who is in great form and is looking for another personal record: reaching 4 thousand points with the club's shirt. The match will be at 21 pm and will be broadcast live on Sportv.

Excited by the current situation, Marcelinho has already received a commemorative 3997-point jersey. Haste or arrogance? Neither. The player currently has XNUMX points for Flamengo and will likely surpass that mark in the first game of the best-of-three tournament against São José.

"It's a significant achievement. Especially these days, when a player rarely spends much time on the same team. Obviously, I'm very happy, but I'd like to emphasize that this only happens because I have the support of the rest of the team. It's a collective achievement. I know I have this ability to score, but it wouldn't happen if I didn't have the support of my teammates," said the winger, who has another reason to be happy: experiencing this with his favorite club.

"Experiencing this special moment at Flamengo is even better. It's the club I love, and everything ends up being different. I remember my childhood, as a fan. Then, today, I see my flag among so many other club idols. In my case, wearing this jersey makes a huge difference," said Marcelinho.

And while everything is going wonderfully professionally, it's no different in his personal life. Marcelinho just became a father and is also having an incredible time.

"When everything goes well, the tendency is for the player to increase his production. I returned to Brazil to be close to the people I love. This culminated in the birth of my son, and today I see myself as more mature and complete, both as a man and as an athlete," he explained.

And while he's enjoying this honeymoon with the team and his family, Marcelinho doesn't want to change. So, he's already starting to plan the end of his career. At Flamengo, of course.

"This is where it all started, when I was 10 years old. I really want to end my career at Flamengo. I renewed my contract, but I don't know how long I'll be playing. I take good care of myself and I'm not going to drag myself along. As long as I can help the group, I'll continue. When I'm no longer fit, I'll stop," he revealed.

Marcelinho's experience will be crucial for Flamengo to secure a spot in the NBB semifinals. Against São José, the 2010 São Paulo champions, the match will be incredibly tough, but everyone is confident.

"This series has all the makings of being tough. They won the São Paulo state title this year and are playing well. Perhaps São José didn't have such a good start to the NBB, as they were prioritizing the Paulista. When they turned their attention to the NBB, they performed very well. Furthermore, they had several players injured, and that's a problem. Now, it's going to be tough," analyzed Marcelinho, betting on the red-and-black team's improvement.

"This break in the NBB has been very good for us. We're a team that needs to train a lot. We'll enter the playoffs with a bang. Furthermore, we have a team that's used to making decisions. This can be a burden at these times. We'll be alert and try to neutralize their point guard (Fúlvio). This will already make the game much more difficult for them. However, we also have to worry about Wanderson (center) and Mateus (point guard)," Marcelinho concluded.
