Flamengo dominated the 2018 Campeonato Carioca. In addition to the senior title, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) team won the trophy in four of the five youth categories of the tournament. The performance of the "Crias da Gávea" (Flamengo's youth academy players) was 86 wins and only nine losses in 95 games from the U-13 to the U-19 levels.

In the Under-13 category, despite not winning the state title, Flamengo won the Rio de Janeiro Cup. In the final four-team tournament, the team coached by Nelson Mourão won all four matches played against ABIG and Clube Central, ultimately taking home the trophy.

In the Under-14 and Under-15 categories, under coach Igor Meletti, Flamengo won both titles in overwhelming fashion. In the Under-14 category, an undefeated campaign culminated in a 65-56 victory over Central in Niterói in the decisive match. They achieved 16 wins in 16 games, highlighting the performance of the Flamengo youth team's defense, which was considered the best in the tournament.

In the Under-15 category, another great performance. By defeating Fluminense 53-47 in the final, Flamengo amassed 21 wins in 22 games and lifted another championship trophy. With the best defense and best offense in the qualifying phase, Flamengo also benefited from the outstanding performance of the state championship's top scorer, Miguel Victor, who averaged 13,71 points per game.

In the Under-17 category, coach Marcos Beegu's team put on a show. With strong collective performances and featuring the top scorer, Magno Faria, the title was secured with a great victory over Vasco, at São Januário, by a score of 67-55. The team finished undefeated, with 22 wins. Once again, the defensive work was one of the strong points of Flamengo's excellent performance during the games.

Closing out the youth categories, the Under-19 team achieved their fourth consecutive championship. Led by Paulo Chupeta and propelled by Matheusinho, a standout young player and top scorer in the State Championship, FlaBasquete defeated Fluminense in both games of the final, adding another undefeated title to their tally. With a record of 20 wins, the "Crias da Gávea" (Flamengo's youth academy players) boasted the best offense and the best defense, highlighting and sealing their impressive result. This team also served as the foundation for the squad that finished fourth in the 2018 LDB (Liga de Desenvolvimento de Basquete).

The basketball teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo receive funding from their sponsors – thinkseg, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), in addition to support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources generated by the Pelé Law. The Anjo da Guarda Rubro-Negro Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved.
