Flamengo closed its participation in the third stage of the Basketball Development League (LDB), this Tuesday (30.12), at the "Juquinha" Gymnasium, in Macaé, with a victory over the home team by 74 to 64, after opening 17 points in the first half. The highlights of the match were the wing/point guard Chupeta, author of 17 points, the wing Diego, who left the court with 15 points scored and six rebounds recovered, and the center Cristiano Felício, owner of another double-double in the competition, 13 points and 12 rebounds.

"We played very well in the first three games of this stage here in Macaé. Four wins in five games is a very good record. We're improving our performance as the championship progresses, but in the next stage we want a 100% record," said Chupeta, Flamengo's top scorer in the match.

After the victory this Tuesday (30.12), Orgulho da Nação has a campaign of 12 triumphs in 17 matches (70,5% success rate), guaranteeing a place in the group of the eight best teams in the LDB classification table until the start of the next stage.

The game
The duel between Flamengo and Macaé began with the Red-Black team relying on their defense. With a strong performance from center Cristiano Felício, who had five points and six rebounds, the Red-Black team closed the first quarter with a 16-8 victory. The second period was much the same as the first. Flamengo was the better team throughout the quarter, once again counting on a strong performance from Cristiano Felício (seven points). With a precise three-point shot at the end of the shot clock from Chupeta, Flamengo went into the locker room leading by 17 points (38-21).

Macaé returned to the third quarter more organized and finished the fourth with a 19-16 victory. However, despite the Macaé team's comeback, Flamengo relied on strong performances from the trio of Chupeta, Rodrigo, and Diego, who scored 15 of the team's 16 points in the period, and went into the fourth quarter leading 54-40. Macaé held on well, but Paulo Chupeta's men managed to hold off the opposing momentum and maintain their lead. Despite losing the fourth quarter (24-20), Flamengo capitalized on their early advantage and secured another victory.
