Last weekend (July 1st and 2.07nd), Flamengo traveled to Pindamonhangaba to compete in the second edition of the local tournament. Led by coach Marcos Beegu, the U17 red-and-blacks faced the home team, Guaratinguetá, and Paulistano in the grand final, finishing the competition as runners-up.

The first match was a friendly that ended with a great victory for Mais Querido against Pindamonhangaba by 83 to 44. In the semifinal, Mengo beat Guaratinguetá comfortably by 55 to 34.

In the grand final, Fla ended up losing 50-36 to Paulistano, finishing the Taça Pindamonhangaba in second place.

For coach Marcos Beegu, the competition was important to get the red-and-black squad up to speed. "It was our second time in Pindamonhangaba, and I decided to bring the players who hadn't been before, almost all of whom were in their first year in this category. I did this to give these players more experience and competition experience, as we didn't play much during the State Championship," explained the coach.

"We played well in this tournament. On Sunday, we faced a tough team, as Paulistano is very strong and currently second in the Campeonato Paulista U17. Our boys didn't let anything slip and fought until the end, fighting hard for the result. It was a very tight duel defensively. I'm very pleased with the team's performance, and this contributes to this group's development, becoming a well-coordinated squad," Beegu assessed.
