On a great night, Pride of the Nation defeats Minas Gerais by 77 to 59

The FlaBasquete team took to the court at Tijuca Tênis Clube this Tuesday (03.09) to face Minas. And with a great performance from the team, they had no difficulty in winning the match. With a great first quarter, the Rubro-Negro opened up the lead on the scoreboard, but it was in the last half that the team sealed the victory with a score of 77 to 59.
The game

Once again without Gegê, who is recovering from a sprained left ankle, José Neto's men were undeterred by the absence of one of their point guards. Even early in the match, Marquinhos quickly demonstrated his calling card. Hitting a strong sequence of three-pointers, the number 11 helped the Orgulho da Nação (Nation's Pride) open up a lead on the scoreboard – supported by point guard Nico Laprovittola and forward Benite. Flamengo thus closed the first quarter 26-13.
The second half arrived, and Minas Gerais' team responded. Knowing they needed to close the gap before the end of the first half, Minas came out swinging. In a very even quarter, Meyinsse displayed all his mettle in the defensive rebounds. Herrmann also excelled, and Marquinhos, once again, was tireless. Thus, the red-and-black team finished the first half with an 11-point lead over Minas.
The restart of the match resulted in an even more even third quarter. Despite the Minas Gerais team taking the lead, Flamengo quickly responded. In an inspired moment, Laprovittola dominated the quarter, becoming the leader in assists and points. Despite the tight score, Flamengo closed the half 19-16.
The final ten minutes of the match crowned the Flamengo's strong performance on Tuesday night. While Marquinhos, Marcelinho, Herrmann, Meyinsse, and Olivinha took turns in the paint, Laprovittola and Benite excelled in creating plays.
