The second stage of the Basketball Development League (LDB) already has a set start date. Flamengo and the other 23 participating teams will continue in the championship promoted by the National Basketball League (LNB), kicking off the second stage of the competition on August 25th and concluding three days later.
The teams were divided into three groups, each with a different venue. Flamengo is in the group that will play in Belo Horizonte, along with Macaé, Botafogo, São José, Pequeninos/Rhema, Sport Recife, Basquete Cearense, and Minas Tênis Club, the latter playing at home as the group's host team.
Flamengo finished the first stage, played in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, in fifteenth place, with nine points and tied with five other teams. In the second stage, which will take place between August 25th and 28th, the teams will play four more qualifying matches.
The Brazilian under-17 team, which is also playing in the competition and has two Flamengo athletes, youngsters Tiago Zibecchi and João Vítor França dos Santos, will play in the group based in Bauru.
The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors—CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional), Banco Bonsucesso, and Brasil Brokers—via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) through the decentralization of resources from the Pelé Law. You can also contribute by becoming a Flamengo Guardian Angel. Simply transfer up to 6% of your IR due and receive your contribution back in your income tax refund. The program will be back on air soon.
