Flamengo won its first title in 1919, winning the Rio de Janeiro City Championship. In 1933, the year the Campeonato Carioca began, Flamengo also won the trophy. Currently, it holds the most titles in the competition (44 titles). Previously, it won four national championships (1934, 1949, 1951, and 1953). In the following decades, the club continued to triumph.
