Flamengo scores 100 points and beats São José

The team was pushed by 4.500 fans. This Sunday (19.05), Fla can turn the series around and be one victory away from qualifying for the NBB final.

The rain and cold weren't enough to keep Flamengo fans away from the HSBC Arena on Friday night (May 17.05). José Neto's team had the support of 4.500 fans who cheered them on from start to finish in the game against São José, and when the clock went off in the final quarter, the scoreboard showed 100 to 84 for Flamengo. With this result, the semifinal series between the two is tied at 1-1. If "Mais Querido" wins this Sunday's game (May 19.05), also at the HSBC Arena, they will need to win just one more game to secure their place in the grand final of the New Basketball Brazil.

"Now it's a draw. We were very worried when we lost the first game, but we corrected our mistakes and won this game here in Rio. I loved that the crowd showed up, and I'm sure that next Sunday even more people will show up to support us," said center Caio Torres.

Outside the court, the Flamengo fans put on another show and gave a masterclass in team support. Inside, Flamengo's collective play was the most impressive. The plays coached by José Neto were well executed, and it's no surprise that the victory came by 16 points.

The red-and-black team also had individual highlights. With 23 points, center Caio Torres finished the game as the night's top scorer, in addition to grabbing seven rebounds. Another player who was inspired was Benite. He scored just one point in the first half, but bounced back in the second half and left the court with 21 points.

"It's not that I was down in the first half. What happens is that our team has a lot of good, quality players. At the beginning of the game, Caião (Caio Torres) was destroying, but in the second half, I was the one who played really well. I hope I can help the team more often in the same way I was able to help today," said Benite.

Next Sunday (May 19.05th), at 20 p.m., Flamengo and São José will face each other again in the semifinals of the Novo Basquete Brasil. The match will once again be at the HSBC Arena, and the Mais Querido fans have the chance to bring even more people to the stands than they did on Friday night.
