Flamengo in the final of the South American League
Team defeats Pinheiros and secures spot with one round to spare

Flamengo is in the final of the South American Basketball League. The team defeated Pinheiros 107-77 on Wednesday night (November 28.11) at their opponent's home in São Paulo. With this result, the Rubro-negro team has two wins in the semifinals (second phase) of the competition, securing the first spot in Group F with a game to spare. Brasília, which lost to Flamengo in the first round, and Pinheiros have one win each and face each other in the final round this Thursday (November 29.11). The Rio de Janeiro team faces Tiburones de Vargas (VEN), which has yet to win, at 20 pm. Sportv will broadcast the match live.
The final four of the South American League will be played from December 4th to 6th in Corrientes, Argentina. From Group E, Peñarol and Regatas Corrientes, both from Argentina, qualified. Flamengo is seeking its second title (it won the competition in 2009).
The game started evenly, with the first quarter ending in a 24-24 tie. In the second, however, Flamengo tightened its grip and scored 10 consecutive points, opening up a 43-33 lead. The Rio de Janeiro team went into halftime leading 50-42. At the start of the third quarter, the red-black advantage reached 18 points (62-44) and rose to 21 at the end of the quarter: 79-58. Flamengo never lost control of the match, which ended 107-77.
Marquinhos was Flamengo's top scorer with 19 points. Pinheiros' Paulinho Boracini was the game's top scorer with 25.
"It was a great match. We spent the first half analyzing our opponent and, in the second half, we attacked. I think, from the second quarter onwards, our defense was overwhelming and we undermined our opponent's strengths, ensuring qualification," said Marquinhos.
