Flamengo loses and closes the second stage of the LDB

With defeat to Minas, Rubro-Negro ends the competition phase

With a young and revamped squad compared to previous editions of the Basketball Development League, Flamengo lost to Minas this Saturday (August 29.08), ending its participation in the second stage of the tournament. The red-and-blacks' top scorers in the game were point guard Pablo and forward Pedro, with 11 points each.

"We entered this edition of the LDB with a different objective. Of course, every team wants to win, but our goal here is to develop new players and get Flamengo's youth academy playing. Our goal is that in three or five years, our senior team will have several players trained here in the LDB," said coach Rodrigo Silva.

The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo youth basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors—CSN (Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional), Banco Bonsucesso, and Brasil Brokers—via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR), as well as support from the Brazilian Confederation of Clubs (CBC) through the decentralization of resources from the Pelé Law. You can also contribute by becoming a Flamengo Guardian Angel. Simply transfer up to 6% of your IR due and receive your contribution back in your income tax refund. The program will be back on air soon.
