Flamengo loses to Bauru

After returning from the first phase of the League of the Americas (LDA), classified in first place, Flamengo played a tough game against Bauru in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), on Friday night (30.01). The Rubro-Negro fought until the end, but the advantage gained by the opponent in the second quarter was decisive for the Bauru victory by 92 to 84, at the Panela de Pressão gym.

Meyinsse led the way with 21 points, tied with Bauru's Alex. Laprovittola led the way in assists with nine, and Olivinha led the way with nine rebounders, also tied with his opponent, Murilo.

The game
The first quarter began basket after basket, with both teams playing well offensively. Near the halfway point, Flamengo managed to take a four-point lead (11-7), but Bauru came back to level the score (13-13). Flamengo took the lead again, but Alex turned it around for Bauru with a three-pointer. Nico responded quickly, drawing a foul on a beautiful play and converting both free throws. The quarter ended tied at 18-18. In the second quarter, the game continued to be tight and closely contested. In the final minutes, despite Flamengo's strong effort, Bauru took a seven-point lead, winning the quarter 24-17, with the overall score at 42-35.

After halftime, the lead was down to just two points (48-46) in two minutes. Midway through the third quarter, with a three-pointer from Nico and a beautiful play from Marquinhos, Flamengo remained in the game. By the end of the period, Bauru extended their lead to eight points, but the score was very even, 27-26 for their opponent. In the final quarter, the red-and-black team fought back, tying the score, but the second-quarter advantage was decisive in the Bauru team's victory: 92-84.
